How do we love unconditionally while maintaining our boundaries?

‘6 of Swords’ from MotherPeace Tarot by Vicki Noble & Karen Vogel

Reflection of the Week

I don’t know about the rest of you, but it’s been a very difficult week emotionally for me and many of my clients. No one is sleeping. One minute we’re on top of the world, and the next we’ve fallen down. I still haven’t gotten back up. Sometimes I lift my head to see what’s going on around me, but mostly, I’m in the wallows contemplating how to get out of this quicksand. If you’re feeling this way too, you’re not alone.

We’re in the Waning Gibbous phase of the Moon, which means we should we able to reflect upon the lessons of the Full Moon surrounding January 17th with less emotion and more practicality. The descent from the top of the mountain is its’ own journey, so be kind to yourself as the intensity of your emotions linger for now but will eventually slip away as they always do. The peak isn’t always the goal, so in the meantime, pay attention to where you step and the messages meant for you on your way down from that great height where you stood. If a stone calls to you, turn it over. Be playful and curious, like the The Star archetype of Aquarius. I’ll be writing about The Star and her correspondences for the month of February soon.

Animal Messengers and Connecting with Nature

Connect yourself with nature and stay open to the wisdom of the earth. Little messengers are all around you if you’re willing to see them. Pay attention to the robin’s return, the fox in symbol or real life, or the raven that seems to squawk at you every time you walk under that powerline. What do they have to teach you today? In the robin, you would see death, spring, and rebirth; in the fox, you would see cunning ability, strategy, and a crossroad; and in the raven, you would see wisdom, healing powers, affection, and confidence.

Tune in and let them be your guide.

Astrology and Dream Interpretations

The Moon trine Uranus (2:28am PST) likes to stir the pot and wake us up. Interestingly, I had a dream about Uranus last night. The only message I remember was that it was an important planet to me right now. As the Great Awakener, this planet’s presence was here to remind me to trust my intuition and get ready for major upheaval in my life.

When it comes to dream interpretations, I often find that even the smallest detail is the guide, so trust the little parts you remember from your dreams and follow their lead. I had a client recently reconnect with her lady bug spirit animal. It showed up twice in the past two weeks in her oracle reading. This week during our session, I had asked her if she had any experiences with her lady bug, and she said that she remembers waking up and feeling her on her skin. She quickly brushed it off and went about her day.

She thought nothing of it at the time, but bringing it to light reminded her of the lady bug’s lessons for her right now: to be playful and joyful, and to remember the light and joy that she brings to her loved ones.

The littlest details of our day can bring the most important lessons to help us move forward with grace and a sacred connection to the divine.

The Moon trine Venus (5:19am PST) might give you a little boost when you get dressed today to express your sensual or creative side in your choice of clothing today. It might also inspire you to take a luxurious bath this evening in a much needed expression of self-love this week.

The Moon opposite Neptune (9:43pm PST) is a big reminder to be very careful to avoid escapism, denial, tunnel vision, and distractions with mind altering substances tonight. Neptune wants you to dream big and follow your aspirations, but it can be a delusional trap if you’re not honest with yourself about your intentions or clarity about the path that you want to take. Clearly, Aquarius wants you to claim your freedom right now. That’s going to require breaking down some very old walls.

But thankfully, if those walls are meant to come down, you will find them crumbling away with ease once you start breaking it apart, piece by piece, memory by memory, year by year, disappointment by disappoint. The cement that contains the joys and the stones from the fireplace that kept this house warm can be stored now for safekeeping on that future day when you want to reflect and remember from a place of peace and healing.

You’ll place that stone on your altar, and because your heart has had time to heal, you will be able to say thank you and you will smile when you remember that house that you built but always knew was never meant to stand forever.

Tarot of the Day

6 of Swords

In this card, we see the different aspects of the personality uniting in clarity and force, with purpose and understanding of the bigger perspective. From MotherPeace: A Way to the Goddess Through Myth, Art, and Tarot, Vicki Noble writes about the women’s thought process in this moment:

Something is dying, but at least we have a clear idea of what is really happening. It may not be pleasant, but the ability to see things as a whole always feels good in its own right. At least we’re out of range of the pain and confusion.

The card represents perspective, getting distance, and taking care of the hurt parts of the self.

I wish you a peaceful day and weekend ahead.
