and a theme to the way the chapters of the story
flow from one into the other
like a perfectly matched table to the cloth
serving the best dinner at the most memorable party
where the last bite eaten leaves everyone smiling
someone toasts to the moment in a ticker screen flash
as the movie playing inside our heads skips a beat
by a drop of the dish we are washing
which is fine because it was time to find
where we left that cold cup of coffee anyway
